By 18 August 2026, overall transfer business in the 2026/27 market had reached approximately €7.5 billion according to a report based on Transfermarkt data, with Premier League clubs responsible for roughly €2.48 billion. Chelsea alone were reported at about €408 million of spending.

That matters because English clubs are not only buying players from Spain, Italy, France or Germany.

They are increasingly buying elite players from each other.
